RIDE FOR REVENGE - Thy Horrendous Yearning LP

-One of the most unique sounds in the black/death underground, murky, miasmic, even tribal black metal debased down to its most primitive state. Thy Horrendous Yearning is very aptly titled: in a now-deep catalog rich with slow-burn mantras, this sixth album is the band's most slow-burning yet. With tension so tight that it can't be cut with any knife and "release" from that tension only the barest (and most debased) suggestion, Thy Horrendous Yearning creeps and crawls, slithers and stumbles, evoking a primordial landscape whose only denizens engage in the most clandestine of rituals. And like many/most of their records, the song titles tell the entire story: "Soul Abortion," "Secrets of Cryptic Metal," "Devil's Star on the Rise," and the telltale, raison d'etre "Sexual Rhythm of Death," among others.
