Nazgul was one of the pioneer Black Metal bands from the Spanish scene of the 90’s. It was formed in 1995, when Thorgul and Defernos joined after leaving their previous project, called Ragnarok. In 1997 they recorded their first demo tape called “From The Throne of Winter”. This demo was released that same year by the French label Chanteloup Creations, in a limited edition. At that time the line-up of the band was: Thorgul (songwriting guitar), Kolgrim (guitar), Defernos (vocals and drums) and Lovhazhon from the band Xharathorn as a collaboration, on bass.
In 1998 Grendel joins the band as bass player, with whom the band would record three new songs for an EP that would end up being released on CD by Spanish label Battlefield Records in a limited edition of 500 copies. That first CD release was called “When The Wolves Return To The Forest”, including the band's first demo tape as a bonus. In 2003, the CD was re-released by German label Christhunt Productions. And now, 24 years later, it’s finally being re-issued for the first time on vinyl by BlackSeed Productions .
For this special edition, Nazgul has included material never released before, the songs ‘The Fullmoon Shines Over the Werewolf Temple’ and ‘Hailing The Dawn Of Native Faith’, two rehearsal tracks belonging to WOLFILAS a side project where Defernos played with some other musicians from the Spanish Pagan / Black Metal scene back then.
