Husk is an exploration of the fragile structures we construct to give human existence meaning.

At its core lies a deliberately nihilistic idea: that nothing is inherently given, divine, good or evil. Humanity continuously attempts to impose order upon chaos, filling the empty husk with religion, ideology, belonging, conflict and belief. What we perceive as spiritual purpose may ultimately be something far more primal — biochemistry and raw emotion transformed into systems of meaning.

Throughout Husk, Manifesto examines the human capacity for violence, devotion, grief and self-destruction, and the forces capable of pushing individuals and societies beyond the point of restraint.

Religion and violence intersect in “Stealing Halos from Beheaded Saints,” while “Be My Void” confronts the grief of disillusionment and the desperate desire to believe again. “Bodybag Waltz” observes the endless procession of bodies produced by contemporary conflicts — different countries, different causes, the same recurring dance of death. “Like Weeds” turns toward exploitation and the ease with which human beings can be consumed, abused and discarded when empathy disappears.

These are not political statements, nor does Husk attempt to advocate a particular ideology or position. Individual events and conflicts appear as manifestations of something broader: humanity’s recurring need to create meaning, justify action and divide the world into structures that make existence bearable.

The album is therefore less concerned with any single war, religion or social phenomenon than with the mechanisms beneath them.

It is a record shaped by inner conflict, frustration and grief at watching where humanity is taking the world.

A soundtrack to the human husk — empty, vulnerable and endlessly searching for something to fill the void.
