Ruinenlust (German for "ruin lust" or "desire for ruins") is an aesthetic and emotional fascination with ruins and dilapidated, abandoned places. Originating in European pre-Romanticism, this term describes finding nostalgic pleasure and melancholy in decay, often representing a contemplation of time, death, and human failure.
I love going into ruins, exploring and imagine what it would have been like when it was not decade and filled with rubble and dust. But it's also a state of mind, that feeling of nostalgia for better times past.
The Album is like a dark reflection filled with nostalgia, an image in the mind warped by a sense of melancholy. Of course the music reflects death, dying and decay, but also life, creating and growth; you can't have one without the other.
